This is the upgrade of the SDR-S26 SD Card Camcorder. So I would be paying the extra $70+ for 60 GB internal plus optional memory cards vs. the memory card? Is this the only difference?

Yes, this is essentially the only difference. However, you can never underestimate the value of internal memory.
