Overall this speaker bar was easy to setup and sounds great. However, be aware that you may have to update the firmware in order to take advantage of 3D DVDs as I had to. It took a bit of researching to find out what the problem was when I first attempted to play a 3D DVD because I kept getting an error message about ensuring that my DVD and TV were 3D compatible (which I knew that they were). After some searching on-line I came across a link that explained how to upgrade the firmware on the soundbar. Even through I bought the soundbar new, it appeared that the firmware was about 3 versions behind. Once I figured out how to update the firmware and installed it, everything is working fine now.

The Yamaha YST-SW315 subwoofer provides excellent bass without distortion or vibration. There is enough power to rattle the windows if you wish. Despite the instructions, I successfully connected it to an Onkyo SR507 through the single subwoofer output using a splitter to feed both sides of the line input. The only trick was the receiver subwoofer output had to be set near maximum to get the auto standby feature to trigger consistently (even when set to "High")when connected like this. The speaker uses about 0.5 watt in standby but about 12 watts when turned on without a signal. Unless it is plugged into a switched outlet on the receiver, I would recommend using the auto standby feature to avoid wasting energy.[...]

I've had the SW315 for a few years now and just purchased another one for my boss hence the timing of this review. First off if your receiver/stereo/amp has a dedicated subwoofer out connection I would recommend getting a subwoofer cable to make the connection. Simple and clean. The bass is strong and clean. What comes to mind is the scene in Finding Nemo where the sub starts sliding down the ledge... I have a concrete slab floor and the couch 10 feet away vibrates with the bass. i have to mention I don't have anything to compare with other than an unpowered woofer which is nothing more than a child's toy in comparison. A 10" 270 watt powered subwoofer for this price... not sure anything else needs to be said.
