Tamron 28-75mm f 2.8 SP XR Di AF Lens for Nikon. (Including the D40, D40x, D60)

This Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di Lens incorporates a motor built into the lens itself, which gives it the capability to autofocus with all Nikon DSLR cameras (including the D40 and D40x). In addition, with the motor built into the lens, focusing will be quieter and more responsive.

I use this lens to shot "people" pictures. Apparently it's a good lens for portrait photography. Good Nikkor substitution.

Comments:

It's a great lens once you learn to use it. I found that I needed to manually set my aperture and shutter speed to get the desired low-light results. As someone who has always used the camera's (Nikon D50) automatic settings, this required a little work, but it wasn't that difficult and was well worth it. I now usually use the manual setting and keep my eye on the internal light meter to easily adjust the exposure by controlling the shutter speed.
