The answer is that YES, it's worth the extra money. This design is a very efficient use of space; love the turbo burner in the middle; very precise controls; easy to install (upgraded what we had before). Our cooktop is used multiple times per day (5 family members all cook); so this is a really important part of our kitchen. So far, I love it. Light years better than the GE useless piece of garbage it replaced.
