Ok, overall I think it is a great product. I signed up for the extras like live tracking, and emergency rescue. It takes a little use to figuring out what the lights mean, but once you get the hang of that then you will feel a little more confident. My only concern is problems getting a signal while in a forest. While my Garmin GPS has never had problems getting a signal while hiking in the woods the Spot does. Fortunately I live in Colorado and spend the majority of the time hiking in open areas. I think the Spot people say to walk to an open area if you can't get a signal if you in the trees. But what if you break a leg or have some other problem that makes this impossible? Aside from that issue, I do think it is a good product and would recommend it to anyone that wants a little safety net while hiking, biking, etc
