The screen is a great upgrade from my previous HDR-SR10. This camera has an external mic input and a headphone jack to listen to what the camera hears. The Stability is fantastic. The USB connection to the computer is easy. I use Sony Vegas Platinum Pro Pack which integrates 100% with the sony files that come off the camera. I do recommend buying a SONY extended battery. Not a knock-off. The knockoffs don't seem to last as long as the Sony brand with all the charging and re-charging. I use the ECMHW2 Wireless Bluetooth Microphone, set up the mic as the center channel, and can leave it on my wife or son as they talk or play music and I'm further away. I use the ECMHST1 Stereo Microphone with wind sock to record excellent live performances of music and in windy environments too. I mainly chose this camera because it has the Sony Active Interface Shoe. And I needed a replacement camera to utilize my accessories. This camera absolutly fits the bill.

The CX580V has great picture quality. Nice job in low light situations too. I used the camera to shoot video on a factory floor for a client. I really appreciated the manual spot meter to adjust focus and brightness with a simple touch on the LCD. Has some other great features too. I found the standard battery life and storage capacity fine for shooting at the highest quality video setting for over an hour. Although, I plan on getting an additional battery (NP-FV70) and 32Gb SDXC memory card so I can shoot longer. Importing the video into Final Cut Pro went without a hitch too. I really liked the attached USB cable! I didn't even know it was there until it was time to import the video. Read through the directions... (that should tell you something about the ease-of-use) and saw there was a hidden USB cable tucked into the camera strap. Just connected the USB extension cable (supplied) to the computer, tapped the "connect to USB" btn on the LCD, and FCP was ready to import. Very happy with everything about this camera. Highly recommend getting it from Abe's of Maine. Great camera, great price and everything shipped w/o a hiccup.

This is the best camera for the features and price on the market. It has a 1/2" chip for outstanding sharpness. The price is incredible for all the features you get. Abe's is also willing to work with you for all the accessories and warranty.
