This is a great lens for someone on a budget. It has lived up to my expectations. The focusing motor is a bit loud. Overall I would buy this lends again.

I've only had my Canon Rebel for about 2 months and this was one of my first lenses. It's great for the money...it's easy to capture my 2 year old when she's on the move and from far away so I don't always have the camera in her face. I would recommend this lens for someone who is starting out and wants practice.

Comments:
I was hesitant to purchase a lens outside of Canon, so this lens is my first 'outsider' and I am glad I bought it (with a good deal). I use this lens to take outdoors/wildlife photos and so far I have not been disappointed. I have been able to obtain incredible macro photos that simply look stunning. However, there are some downsides to the lens, it does not perform top notch in low light conditions. The internal flash from my Canon Rebel XSi is not enough to capture photos with this lens (external flash needed). Also, the lens has manageable weight to it. And, I have found it is slow to focus. Overall, I like this lens, it has done what I needed it to do. That being said, it is what you pay for.

Purchased this as a backup and light-weight alternative to my Canon 7-200 IS USM lense. Used it on 2 outdoor photo sessions. Worked fine; images were reasonably sharp. Just need to use common sense that at higher millimeter exposures (200-300), image stablization requires a very fast shutter speed (over 200) and/or a tripod. For the money, it great!

I used the lens for a wedding and I got great shots of the couple dancing from a second floor balcony. It brings the subject right up into focus.

Very satisfied with the lens. I ordered this lens and the guy sold me on a Sigma with the same focal length. I called him back, immediately, and changed it back to the Canon, because the Sigma is not an IS lens. They sent the Sigma anyway! Abes did make it right in the end. I just wished I could afford the EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM.
