Great glass, love the 1.4 factor. I use it mainly for bmx/skateboarding.

Amazing Bokeh and DoF. At the closest zoom the DoF is about 5mm, which makes for some great artistic shots.

This lens is the best lens that I've ever bought. I was also recommended my my semi-pro photographer and I been using it for a month now and did not regret at all. Has unique colone tones to it (that special color tones sigma lenses have). It is bit heavier than it looks but it worth it to carry about once you see the results!

Great for an all around lens, it's very nice to know you can shoot portrait images with out flash! I took a lot of pics of my 1 year old son and he doesn't mind the camera anymore because I dont have to fire a flash up close in a darker room. lens soaks up light like a sponge! Well built and the padded EX case is always a plus!

I have over a dozen lenses but I use this sigma 30mm 85% of the time. I can't live without it and for the price livable in this economy.

This lens is absolutely awesome! I seriously could not have asked for better results from a lens. This should be priced at over a grand for the quality and sharpness.

gotta love f/1.4, but it has tendency to focus a little in front of the pin point. if I were to buy again, I'd probably go with nikon 35mm for the half the price.

If you have never used a fast prime before you really must try it. This is my first, and I have to say it opens a whole new world yo your photography. I purchased the Sigma because it would autofocus on a D40/D60 and already had a good reputation. I have not been let down. Used carefully it is good at f/1.4, and already very sharp by f/2. It opens a whole new world in terms of low light photos. I can get shots that would be totally impossible with my slow 18-200. The 30mm focal length is just right on a crop sensor and very useful. The bokeh from this lens is fantastic. Very smooth, beautiful out of focus areas. The lens is not light, but it is solid and feels well constructed. I considered selling it for the new 35mm AF-S Nikkor, but I think I will keep the Sigma. I am quickly falling in love with it!

This lens gives an incredibly sharp picture, and is very good for night photography where you cant use a flash. Really helps to capture the moment. It also focuses very well without the focus light.

Comments:
A really nice lens I use with my Nikon D80. It's become my regular lens, since I mostly shoot portraits and it provides a ~50mm equivalent. Fast focus and like the headline says, it soaks up light - so much, that it tends to overexpose a little. Still a very sweet lens for a good price. It's rugged and SOLID. A little soft in focus, but worth the money.

Comments:
I bought this to supplement my two zoom lenses (Nikkor 18-200 & Sigma 10-20)which are not good in low light. I use it with a Nikon D80. I have not used it extensively but so far I like what I see. On a digital camera this is a "normal" lens and works well in building interiors where flash may be a problem. Some reviews I had read indicated that this lens had a focusing problem, particularly with the D80. I have not experienced a problem but I have not used the lens in all possible situations.
