Comments:

I was searching for a lens to use in low light situations since I photograph a lot of local bands in dark bars with poor lighting. I had rented the Nikkor version of this lens and love it. I wanted to give the Sigma a try and I'm so glad I did. The lens is quick to auto-focus and the color is sharp. It's a little heavy, but I'm also getting used to a new (and heavier) camera body as well. I'm using this lens on a Nikon D-7000. I'm not a professional photographer by any means but I take a LOT of photos and for my uses I am very satisfied with the lens. If you want to save some money and have a lens that you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference from the venerable Nikkor, give the Sigma 24-70 2.8 HSM a shot.

Lens came perfect right out of the box. Sigma gets a bad vibe for QC but I really enjoy using mine. I wish the front element wasn't 82mm but that isn't a huge problem. Use it as my main lens most of the time and it works very well.

This is a great Lens! Before this lens I owned the 28-70mm monster which was a super heavy lens with good focus & images. I got this lens because I am shooting with a d300 and 28mm is just not enough, but 24mm is much wider. Didn't want to spend the extra money for the nikon version so I decide on the sigma after hearing some good things about it. It totally surprised me. the Image is tack sharp even sharper then the 28-70 at wide open to 5.6. Only issue is getting a good copy. My lens has a front focus problem which i tried to adjust with the fine tune option in my camera. Even at +20 it still slightly front focus, but only noticeable when I'm focusing within 2 feet. Overall this is a great lens, if you can get a good copy it's SUPER SHARP!

This lens is well built. Like other 24-70 2.8s, this is a heavy lens with a lot of glass. When I received the lens, it had a backfocusing issue. I had read of others who had this issue online, so I sent it back to Sigma for recalibration. I got it back a few days ago, have tested it out, and it is very sharp. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase.
