BEST USES

  • Landscape/Scenery

Comments:

The 10 mm end is an effective 16 mm wide angle lens in my Canon, truly a great advantage to photograph in tight environments. It also allows for creative angles in sports photography.

Good Wide Angle Lens

4.0

PROS

  • Consistent Output
  • Lightweight
  • Strong Construction

CONS

BEST USES

  • Wildlife Photos
  • Weddings/Events
  • Landscape/Scenery

Comments:

I use this for landscape scenery - to gain more into my photo range. It's a nice lens for landscape scenery and for group shots. However, for me I will not use it a lot as I am more of a detail and close up photograher and this is clearly not for that. If you seek out to shoot a lot of large scenes and/or group photos this is a great lens.

CONS

  • Poor in Low Light

BEST USES

Comments:

I been using it for few times after I purchased it around 4 weeks ago. First, I'm attempted on what I took using this lens. From the picture you actually can tell. The only problem of the lens is the aperture is f4-6.3, I wish to have one for f2.0-2.8. Anyway I love this lens for outside shooting, indoor shoooting (with lot of lights).

Very good wide angle lens. Good bang for the buck. No distortion at 10mm. 15-20mm looks real good.

Wide, wide world

4.0

PROS

  • Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Durable
  • True Color Reproduction

CONS

  • Distortion

BEST USES

  • Wildlife Photos
  • Landscape/Scenery
  • Night Photography

Comments:

This lens is quite fast in focusing and also very quiet. It does distort the images some, more so at 10mm than 20, but not enough to ruin a photo. Even with only a 2/3rds sensor, this thing is amazingly wide. It almost reaches into my peripheral zones with out being a fish eye. For their price range, I have found Sigma's to be quite durable and they can take drops, bumps and extreme weather that occur with my photo-adventures.

Can it get Cheaper?

4.0

PROS

  • Consistent Output
  • Easily Interchangeable
  • Lightweight

CONS

BEST USES

  • Indoors/Low Light
  • Landscape/Scenery

Comments:

Being a Non-Pro, it is not easy to spend $ on specialty lenses, I have used it for outdoors and works perfect. I was hoping it would be useful for indoor/portraits it did work but had kind of abnormality, guess it's a trait of going that wide.. Wished it was cheaper...

Great Super Wide

5.0

PROS

  • Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Easily Interchangeable
  • Strong Construction
  • Durable
  • Consistent Output

CONS

  • Heavy

BEST USES

  • Landscape/Scenery

Comments:

I've always wanted a super wide angle lens and this was on sale at Abes, so I bit the bullet after lots of research and negative reviews about lenses not being consistent. I'm happy to report that the lens I received is great. It is a little heavy, but I expected that from a 'quality' lens. This has opened up a lot of new possibilities for me. I've had this lens for almost a month and am very pleased with it.

A Little Disappointed

3.0

PROS

  • Rugged
  • Strong Construction
  • Durable

CONS

  • Not sharp

BEST USES

  • Landscape/Scenery
  • Indoors/Low Light

Comments:

This is a very solidly constructed lens with a smooth zoom. I really looked forward to using my first ultra-wide lens with my Canon 7D, but I've found that it is just not as sharp as my Canon 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses. I would not describe it as "poor" focus, just not as sharp as what I was used to, so from that standpoint it was a bit of a disappointment. Please note, however, that I have not yet used it with a tripod, so perhaps it will be more to my liking when I can shoot more stopped-down.

Great Lens, Good Value

4.0

PROS

  • Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Strong Construction

CONS

  • Heavy

BEST USES

  • Landscape/Scenery

Comments:

This lens is definitely worth the price (I bought at less than 400). I have not tried the Canon 10-22, but I've seen online picture comparisons with no significant difference. And with a non-full frame body like my Canon 40d, the wide angle range is perfect to get those landscapes and large indoor group shots that your standard zoom lens would not be able to get. I plan to always carry this lens along with a standard zoom because of its usefullness. Although I'd avoid taking close up shots of people with the wideer-end side of the zoom range as it may look somewhat distorted due to the intensified perspective of a wide angle zoom.

Comments:

I've done a lot of research and I decided the best bang for the buck with a great quality like Canon ultra wide angle, is the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6. Great lens.
