I use it as a backup to my DSLR, or in instances when I want a smaller camera to carry with me.

The instructions on how to use this complicated camera are very poorly written. This would make a big difference for a camera novice like me.

This camera has an extensive list of options from fully automatic to almost fully manual. It has aperture priority and shutter priority modes and full manual assist. For casual use, automatic is good. I was impressed with the image stabilization, even with long zoom. Automatic switch to macro is good for close work. White balance can be automatic, set with white, preset, with other lighting situation selection. White balance can be fine tuned. Focus area can be spot, center, or average; spot seems to work well. With so many options, it takes time to go through the PDF manual; the PDF manual could use a LOT of improvement with more details and explanations.

Easy to use - liked the quick video button on the ZS8 which this camera doesn't have - too much of a lag time between focus and taking picture so you sometimes miss the shot you wanted - For the most part it is a good camera, takes good pictures and has a lot of options for various scenes to make pictures clearer

Comments:
Overall, the Lumiz TZseries is worth its weight in quality and price. The ZS8, while in the family, seems to be slow in comparison to previous models. Quality of image is not excellent in Sports mode or lower light (later afternoon, overcast) situations.

This is far and away the best "point and shoot" camera that I have owned. The close-up ability is great and the stability with telephoto is very good. My previous Panasonic with 9 mb and 10x optical zoom cannot even begin to compare.

I took 100 pictures during my cousin's wedding - half indoor and half outdoor. 90 of it are just excellent. The other 11 are very good. I have just introduce this product to a whole bunch of people.

I have previously bought Kodak cameras. I am still new at using this Panasonic Lumix camera. I was impressed since the beginning though. I like the size, weight, and color of it. I also like all the different photo options. It even gives you little messages and notes about what you are doing. I am enthusiastic to take more photos using the different options with this camera! I gave it four stars because I need more opportunities to use this camera!
