Great for closeups on insects, small items. I was concerned with front of lens moving with focusing in Macro mode. I use it with Pentax Ring flash, this flash included an attachment that solves this problem. Very sharp macro focus. Photo of insect shows tiny hairs very clearly. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
