I use this software to enhance photos that I take for personal use and those that I use in my graphics art business. Nikons's Capture NX can make almost any photograph useable. The control point functions, (white, black, neutral, and color) can improve the look of any photo, especially those taken spontaneously when there is little time to select the optimal camera settings. Nikon's features put back dark room techniques for those who enjoy black & white digital photography. The software allows editing of the XMP/IPTC information embedded into the digital image which is important to anyone who wants to submit photos for publication. The program has a well illustrated built in help file and a complete users manual. A great tool for both the serious camera bug and the professional user.

This is very powerful photo editing software without the complexity of a Photoshop type tool. You can make very dramatic improvements to your photos using the easy to use Color Control Points and the Auto Retouch Brush.

While I was a big fan of Capture NX, it had its downfalls. I just love Capture NX 2! This is by far the easiest software I've ever used. I can put a color control point on any area of the image to adjust saturation, brightness, color and contrast. Now I can do the same thing for any effect. When I want to sharpen the eyes in a portrait, I can select them with 2 selection control points. The highlight and shadow recovery makes toning my images a snap. The auto-retouch brush removes dust and other problems with my images. The new browser allows me to rate and filter my images and the shortcuts let me get to my images with lightning speed. This is the one tool I use more than any other whether I shoot RAW with my D60 or JPEGs/TIFFs with my other camera. I strongly suggest this software for anyone, not just Nikon users and not just RAW shooters of Nikon.

I use this product to tweak my .NEF or RAW files taken with my Nikon D300 camera. I like the ability to locally fix problems in a picture file and the fact that it is pretty intuitive. It offers many advantages over Photoshop CS3 which I also own so I mostly stick with Capture NX2 for all my adjustments.
