Power to Astonish. Features to Inspire. Nikons D7000 features a 16.2 MP DX-format CMOS sensor, 6 fps continuous shooting and breathtaking Full 1080p HD Movies with full time autofocus
I plan to photograph birds mainly. This is an excellent camera and I am looking forward to spending time with it and really learning how to use it proficiently. It has lots of "bells & whistles" and I have lots to learn about it. The photos I have made are wonderful.

After researching for quite a bit I settled on this camera and I could not be happier. As a casual photographer I was able to use the camera out of the box, but with some online tutorials and little practice my photography skills are beginning to blossom. This camera will do pretty much anything I would like it to and I can continue to grow into it as I progress with my skills. I could not recommend this more to anyone that would like a camera that takes beautiful pictures, is easy to use, and will grow with you as your skills develop.

I am late to the game with the D7000 having owned the D90 for years. I loved the D90 and finally decided to reward myself with the D7000 and wow, what an upgrade. The ease of use, clarity of pictures, vibrance of colors, speed and style are all top notch. I by no means an expert, but this camera is top notch. My first use was at the beach on a family vacation, the colors were so rich and vibrant that even my grandmother commented, "wow, you can really see those colors" when reviewing the pictures. Well done Nikon!

Uses non CPU lenses, focusing improved over D90, Higher ISO speeds with less noise, longer expected shutter life. More helpful scene modes. High frame rate. Controls are similar to Nikon D90 but more versatile. Learning curve not too steep. Extra speed and resolution are very important to me. Manual mode operation with AI lenses(non CPU) makes this much more versatile than the D90.

I LOVE my new D7000...I upgraded from a Nikon D3000 and the differences are amazing. Abe's of Maine was easy to work with...I received my camera within a week and a half. You won't regret ordering this camera.

This review will concentrate on two major improvements which helped me personally when upgrading from a Nikon D70. Firstly, I use this camera primarily for product photography. I generally use a remote release and a delay so that the tripod has stopped vibrating when I take the shot. The D70 can't be set to remote/delay permanently. By contrast, the D700 has a supplemental dial under the main Mode Dial which Nikon calls the Release-Mode Dial. Among other settings, this dial can be set to Remote Control - and it doesn't automatically reset after each shot. Another feature important to me is the flash commander feature. All flashes commanded by the D70 must be set to Channel 3 Group B and, of course, they all fire at the same level. On the D7000, it's possible to set three different levels: 1 For the built-in flash, 2 & 3 For two different groups - A & B (same channel) for other speedlights. Thus, three different levels may be set which I find very useful in lighting inanimate objects. All-in-all, this camera is a delight to use and I'll still be learning about its many advanced features for a long time to come.

I am surprised at the quality built in to this consumer level camera. The IQ rivals my D700, low light-high ISO almost as good. For the money, I can't see a weakness.....

This is my first entry into the dslr world and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. This camera allows me to grow as a photographer. It will hold your hand right out of the box with the automatic settings. So you can be taking great pictures right away. I can't wait to experiment with the new Nikon!

I purchased the D7000 primarily to photograph my son & daughter's high school sports including gymnastics, wrestling, lacrosse, & football. These present all the challenges of getting sharp 'freeze action' images including fast action, distance, and low light. Although lens selection plays a huge role, I can't imagine a better tool for the job or for the money. When coupled with the high quality lenses that this camera deserves, the results are nothing short of spectacular. I also use this camera for other still images like family portraits, landscapes, slow exposure shots, etc. Even using the automatic settings, the images are excellent. However, I'm finding that the more I educate myself regarding good technique, composition, and exposure settings, the more this camera delivers and the better and more interesting my images become. It was tough convincing my wife that we should spend the money on this camera. Now she considers it one of the best purchase decisions we've made. Going through the images after games/events has become a family event in and of itself.

Having a camera stolen can be very depressing, but then a fellow photographer told me: "Well, at least you'll get a better one in return." And yes, as much as I loved my old D70, the D7000 is much better. It's faster, quieter, and I've taken some great pictures with it - with more to come.
