Comments:

After taking 8,000+ photographs with my small camera, and in need for more consistent results, I decided to invest in a dependable, semiprofessional equipment (like the one I had in the film era and still keep). This resourceful camera has brought me back the passion for photography. I will be using it primarily for photographing products for a web site, but will be taken along while traveling on vacation.

Comments:

I am just a casual photographer and was ready to move up to a camera that was far superior to my previous camera. So Far, the D5100 Nikon has proven to be a the perfect camera for me. I can use it in the, "Automatic or Point & Shoot" mode," and get great image quality, or I can experiment with all of the various settings and create special effects. I know I listed as the only, "Con" is a lag in shutter speed. It is probably due to not knowing how to do things correctly. I have only had the camera for a couple of weeks and have only scratched the surface of its capabilities. One shot was of the full moon with some bare limbs in front and I must say I was totally impressed by the camera's capabilities to capture and express what I wanted. I know this camera probably has short comings; but being just a casual photographer, I have not noticed them. Thanks Nikon and Abes.

This camera is a great product for it's price point, but for these primary lenses I bought Nikon should have put metal mounts instead of plastic ones. I'd have paid another $25.00 or more per lense for that. Come on Nikon don't get cheap, that doesn't become your reputation. Other than that I love the lenses, and photo results.

I LOVE this camera. I upgraded to it after having my Sony a-100 for five years. Ths speed it shoots is great and the images are beautiful! At this price point the question was D5100 or T3i. Neither one is bad, but the D5100 edged out the T3i in image quality in part due to the larger pixels. I'm thrilled with the amount of noise and the great performance in low light.

Couldn't be any happier with this purchase. Great pictures and videos. Just takes a bit to get used to the size of the camera. I have only had pocket cameras before this one but was tired bad pictures from low light conditions.
