Overall a great lens!! The VR works great and helps a lot!! Sometimes it has a hard time/slow focusing low lighting, but other than that pretty much nothing wrong with this.

Great Product, it is a nice step up from my Nikkor 200mm. It is very durable and doesn't feel cheaply built. The price is the best part about this lens! Only flaw i find in the lens is the auto focus isn't always accurate, but its really not a huge issue.

Used with a Nikon D80. Worked great on recent trip to Greek isles. The hood was handy because of the intense sun.

Very happy with purchase. Have 2 small boys who are very active and it is great for catching them in action when not in arms length.

I previously owned the non VR version of this lens and let me tell you... the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR NIKKOR lens knocks the socks off of the non VR Nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 D ED lens. The VR II technology works to perfection. I recently shot a wedding w/average to bad light and was able to take extremely sharp photos w/this lens. Just this past weekend, in cloudy conditions and in deep wooded brush, I was able to take photos at acceptable ISO ranges (400-640) on our land with exceptional results that were tack sharp. The focus is extremely fast and has made using my D90 even more enjoyable. I could not be more pleased having purchased this lens except to say I wish I had gotten it sooner.

Wonderful Zoom! Played with it around Christmas with great result. Looking forward to a full fledged outing! Bird Photos from 15 Meters was good, will try to get better. Portraits of people were... well a bit disturbing... unless you are an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist (Doctor) because you can get THAT close lol. Love it

The lens was excellent and met all of my needs and expectations except at autofocus on maximum zoom, the image was not as sharp as it was at 250 mm or less, even on a tripod. For the price paid, it was well worth the investment. Perhaps I need to work harder to see if the problem may well be the photographer rather than the lens.

Comments:
The Nikon 70-300mm zoom lens is definitely one of the better zoom-upgrades you can purchase for the its' price. I captured the subjects from quite a distance, in a low-light stage location, with contrasting spotlight. With a few tweaks at manual mode,I got amazingly vivid pictures! I need to use it more at normal, to bright lighting and get more acquainted of its' active mode. You have to get used to the weight if you like taking many, distant photo-shoots.
