An ideal one-lens solution for DX-format D-SLRs, features 11x zoom versatility, ED glass superiority and VR II image stabilization for incredible performance.
I used it for travelling and shooting for parties, meetings, etc. I picked the lens for its versatility. I wish it had bigger aperture at telephoto (200 mm) because the built-in flash is not powerful enough to cover a big room.

I bought this so I don't have to change lenses on my Nikon D50 anymore. It accomplishes that and a whole lot more. Great picture quality, love the VR for lower light situations.

THIS HAS PROVEN TO BE AN EXCELLENT "MIDDLE LENS" FOR GENERAL SHOOTING. EXCELLENT INDOOR/FLASH LENS. THE ONLY CAUTION IS @ 200MM LIMIT I HAVE TENDED TO OVER ESTIMATE THE CAPABILITIES OF THIS LENS.

This is my main lens. I use it with a Nikon D90. I carry this camera most of the time. The lens allows me to take close up photos of tiny flowers and decent photos of distant birds and animals. I also take candid shots of people on the street and photos in art museums. I can only carry one lens and the AF-S Nikkor 18-200mm lens works for me because it is very versatile.

Comments:
I use this lens as my all-purpose one. I had the previous version. The lens lock corrects the tendancy to slide open. The two types of stablization provide really good low light shooting. I really get good pictures from tight to wide with little flair. I liked the lens so much that I purchased the new model even though it was expensive. What better testimony.

I bought this lens to upgrade my 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm VR lenses. The weight is perfect on my D60. I've used this lense for the first time to take shots of stage performances and I did get beautiful amazingly sharp pictures even in low light. I love it!

CONS
No Increase In Performance

Comments:
I owned the older version of this lens and loved it. Very sharp pictures. I could live with some barrel and pincushion distortion which is fixable in Photoshop. I hoped the new lens would be even sharper but I can't say that it is. The new 18mm lock prevents the lens from sliding and extending out to 200 mm when it's carried, but that's the only improvement I've been able to discern - not worth upgrading, in retrospect. A great lens if you don't already have one that's similar.

Comments:
This is a basic lens for basic pictures. It is adequate for traveling otherwise I don't recommend it. I like to take close up pictures of flowers; this lens is not able to give me the zoom I want. Comparing to a 100-300zoom I have on my other camera, this lens does not perform. I use this lens on my Nikon 5000D, I have used it on camera's auto setting, the results has been disappointing, pictures lack sufficient contrast even though I have been using polarizing filter with it.

Got this to replace the kit 18-105 VR lens. I am very happy so far and have been getting consistent results and none of the errors that the plastic mount on the 18-105 was causing on my D90.
