No USB cable included so you can't use it straight out of the box. The latest drivers would not work on my windows 7, had to ultimately uninstall everything and load the oldest drivers available (version 1.0) before it would actually print. Once it worked it prints very nicely. Little larger footprint than I wanted but for the price it's hard to beat for a color laser.

I had much difficulty getting the printer set up and working at all. Set up requires an installation program provided by the manufacturer. I ran the installation program, and the printer appeared to be installed on my Windows 7 notebook, but nothing would print to it. I tried removing it and re-running the program, without success. I finally called tech support, and after about an hour, it was properly installed by running the installation program again. (Tech Support was very easy to work with and seemed knowledgeable, but he did not know why it would not work initially either.) After setting it up with a direct USB connection to my notebook, I was also able to use it through my QNAP Turbo NAS USB port. The only caveat is that my NAS shuts down at night, and the printer does not seem to respond in the morning. That is corrected by turning the printer off and back on. I try to just turn it off at night. Another odd thing is that the printer does not seem to use a spooler, or does not use it correctly. If I try to print something and the printer is not ready for it, the document does not print, and does not stay in the print queue; I have to send it again after the printer is ready. Maybe that has to do with running it through the NAS? The output is quick enough, and looks good. I was disappointed that it does not support printing on standard #10 envelopes. You can force it to print on #10 envelopes by setting up a custom page size in the preferences, but the driver will not allow you to set the media type to "envelope". The printed envelopes come out curled and with creases on the edges, not really suitable for business use. Also, there is no alternate paper tray; if you want to use different size media, you have to remove your stack of paper from the tray. This is the lowest price color laser printer I found, and, while larger than most desktop monochrome laser printer, is still small enough to sit on your desktop. The print quality on plain paper is good. If you do not need to print on #10 envelopes (or other sizes - check the documentation for the two envelope sizes supported) or different sizes of media, you can't beat the value of this printer. I will probably look to replace it with something more flexible and convenient.

This is my first Color Laser Printer and must say that I am impressed with the colors on it. It will not win any awards for color photo printing, but it still looks great. I had this up and running and shared in about 30mins. The main computer is running Windows 8 and I shared it with a Windows 7 laptop with no problems. I just used the Windows 7 Driver on the Windows 8 Machine. This is going to be my printer when I need some color. For most things I will use the old HP Laser. Now I have color and don't have to worry about the ink drying up.

I was blown away with how well this printer worked. It prints very fast compared to other printers I have owned and the colors come out much nicer then I expected for a laser printer. I bought this printer mainly for my daughter to use because she needed one that was fast and easy to print all her collage papers with and she loves it also.

I checked the internet, Abe's of Maine, for a new printer and found that Konica-Minolta 1600W for a good price. I read critics about it, ordered it . Did get it very fast. Good service ! Not much more to say. Worked out the way it should !! I only have one problem, I can not transfer the "remone panel " part from the software disk into my PC. WEhy not ?? Horst Pokorra, Oakhurst, CA

I have a Canon color inkjet printer that I use primarily to print photos, and wanted a color laser printer for everyday color printing to augment my B/W laser printer. The price from Abe's was the best I'd seen, so the purchase was a no-brainer. The downside is that setup is by-guess and by-golly, as the only information is pictorial; initialization seemed to take an extraordinarily long time. The printer doesn't have a paper drawer; instead, paper is fed from a drop-down panel that extends about 5 inches from the front of the printer. That said, printing is relatively fast, and the colors are smack on. For a home-use color laser printer the K-M Magicolor 1600W is an unbeatable bargain.

Comments:
This unit was bought to replace a junk HP inkjet printer. The installation manuals are junk. Everything is pictographs and the artist was apparently blind. Once you set it up, it is relatively straightforward to add to Win7. I recommend downloading drivers directly from the website rather than using the antique drivers that ship with the unit. It's fairly hefty and takes up a lot of space. Also, despite claims of being quiet, when it revs up it really revs up. Time to first print is a bit long vs. inkjet but not unreasonable. Can't speak to toner consumption but replacement toner seems difficult to find. Very different price points depending on where you shop, so buyer beware. Very annoyed that the manual duplex option is not available via the latest driver. Otherwise, I've been happy with the unit so far.
