I just bought the same exact model and agree 100% with the poor sound mention in Rav Man's review - which is really surprising because Lenovo nailed everything else on this model. My previous laptop was a 7.5-year-old HP Pavilion zx5040us with harman/kardon speakers that absolutely rocked! I expected this top-of-the-line 'workstation' model to produce acceptable sound.

I bought this laptop because I needed a new machine with enough horsepower to take on CAD drawings and HD multimedia. I use the DisplayPort output to connect to external displays and the HD 1080 output is flawless. Battery life is pretty decent for a quad core and although the unit gets hot, you can still manage to usually keep it in your lap. The built in Thinklight keyboard light is AWESOME! It really comes in handy. The HD webcam works great and is really clear. The one thing I wish I could change about this system is the speakers. For someone who's looking for a multimedia powerhouse, this is fine if you want to connect it to an external display and audio system. But if you're looking for killer sound out of the built-in speakers, don't bet on it. Overall this is a pretty powerful machine with a great display and great feature set. I would definitely buy one again and recommend it to anyone else.
