I purchased this laptop after I did some research into the quality of Lenovo laptops. NASA uses Lenovo on the International Space Station and I'm sure they would not use laptops that were not trust worthy and reliable.

I bought this ThinkPad, because I love the tools that ship with Lenovo and IBM products. There's a lot of features on this laptop that are geared for a corporate environment. However, those features can be dialed down. I also loved that this laptop had a matte finish on the display. Pretty important for a business laptop. The HDD on this one happened to die after a week of use, but I was pleased with the speed at which Lenovo's support group replaced the drive. The HDD that dies was a Toshiba, so I have to believe it was just bad luck. The new drive (also Toshiba) seems to be working fine. I chose this system because I've had a lot of experience with Lenovo and IBM Support. ThinkPads are not perfect, but they have a reputation of being a workhorse (and rightly so). if you've worked on enough of them you appreciate how they are designed for servicability (including integrated pre-boot diagnostics). I've had good luck with three previous ThinkPads, and my unfortunate experience with this one's HDD has not deterred me from recommending them.
