We agonized for a long time about this stove. GE Profile is generally very well recommended, but there were a few negative reviews about overheated knobs and such. These must be for older versions because we do not have this problem. Then there was that funny little half-oven on the bottom in the earlier model (CGS980SETSS). Didn't see how that would be very useful. When the new model came out with the small (but real) oven on top, we pulled the trigger. And I must say, we're pretty happy with it. Pluses: - Good variety of burner sizes. The big one on the right with "PowerBoil" really heats up fast, and yet can also be turned down to a very small flame. The burner on the left is slightly smaller, but also has PowerBoil, so works well. We don't use the rear burners much, but they are smaller. All knobs are large and easy to adjust in fine increments (something to look for in a gas range). We thought the central griddle burner was pretty useless (grilling on the stove is way too messy!) but it does work well for making gravy in a big rectangular roasting pan. - The small oven on top is really convenient. It's a real gas oven, and is just right for heating a pizza, cooking a casserole or a quiche, etc. It doesn't have electronic control like the main oven, and we found it to be a little off in temperature when compared with an oven thermometer. But this is pretty minor and can be adjusted according to the manual. It's just really nice to be able to bake something small without heating up the whole kitchen. - The main convection oven seems to work well, though we've only used it a couple of times. The built-in meat thermometer is a nice feature, allowing you to watch the temp from outside with the oven closed. Minuses: The only minus is cleaning of the stove top, which is pretty much what you get with all ranges these days. We like the old system where you could put foil bibs under the burners and throw them out when they get messy. Now whatever you spill goes right on the stainless top, with the potential to burn on. Haven't had a really big spill yet, but we're not looking forward to it. I wonder what this stove top will look like in ten years... Overall, a nice range. We've had it for about three months; no reliability issues to report, but it's early days still.

Great on holidays when you have a turkey, ham,or roast in the main oven and can cook vegetables, casseroles, dressing, etc. in the top oven. I also like the top oven for pizzas. The large top burner brings a pot of water for pasta to a boil in about no time. The control panel in front and venting low in back allows for several large pans to be used at once and center on the burners. The burner controls face straight out so they do not get bumped when moving pans on or off the burners. This is the best range I have used even though you do have to bend down for the bottom oven, which does have a rack on slides for easy pull out. GE got this one right.
