I was looking for a dehumidifier that had good reviews and was the right size - not so easy. They were usually too small or too big for my basement, which is half finished. This unit sits near my washer and dryer and manages to dehumidify the whole basement in spite of a wall to the finished part of the basement. I expect noise in the basement and don't live down there, but my daughter's bedroom is in the half finished part, and she is not bothered by the sound at all. I was also looking for one with a built in hose because with moving, I just didn't want the hassle of yet another step before setting it up to dehumidify continually without having to empty a container. The bottom line is that it does a great job.
