Comments:

We've had this pot about a month now. It replaced a 15-year-old Krups that made fabulous coffee. If we use the same ratio of water to coffee, this pot's coffee is almost as good. I was reluctant at first to buy a Cuisinart pot; we know of at least one of their other models that spews grounds out of a drawer that sometimes pops open without warning. The model I'm reviewing has an entirely different design; coffee is loaded under a hinged top. The Cuisinart coffeemaker is attractive; this is my first experience with a black chrome finish, and it pairs nicely with stainless or black appliances. Fingerprints clean off it easily with a damp cloth. The glass carafe is a contemporary design. The pot is on the tall side, especially with its lid open. We need to slide the pot forward away from the overhead cabinets to load and empty the coffee grounds. This isn't the fastest brewing coffeemaker out there, but impatient coffee drinkers can pour an early cup without drips hitting the hot plate. The unit beeps twice when brewing is complete. Coffee stays at a fairly constant temperature and doesn't lose much flavor when the plate is on, a major plus. We use readily-available #4 paper filters for the coffee, because we prefer these over the included gold filter. The unit also comes with a charcoal water filter. I'd suggest buying an extra one to keep on hand, as I've yet to see them in stores. The unit has plenty of adjustments, including a timer for the hot plate and to turn the pot on if it's been set up the night before. There's an adjustment for hot plate temperature and a self-clean button we've yet to try out. My only complaint is that condensation drips onto the hot plate when the grounds "funnel" is removed (after brewing) and the carafe is off the plate...but this is preventable by discarding the grounds and replacing the funnel before removing the carafe for cleaning.
