Sure some might say it's loud, but in reality it is no louder than most other coffee grinders. Just be sure to taste it's "cup" sizes as my wife and I have a 12 cup pot but really prefer to have the grinder set to 10, so just make sure you do a few tests before deciding that it's not working right. Aside from that it's easy to adjust the cup size and the grind size, just push a button and twist the top. the bean hopper is a wonderful feature on this one as well. It does look like the changes in cups just increases or decreases the time it actively grinds but it's great, would have to say splurge a little and pay the extra bucks for this one.
