This is my first switch from a film SLR to a DSLR so it's much more complicated than my old camera and takes time to learn. As a result, I'm still struggling to override the automatic changes in ISO setting and that takes longer than I'd like. Video is great. Image quality is great. It's a bit heavy. Very happy with it overall!

I was looking for my first DSLR for a long time and did lot of research on T2i, 7D, 5D MkII, and because of cost restrictions i was drawing more towards T2i, though my personal favorite was 5D MKII because of its full frame sensor and exceptional image quality but cost was too much for me. After reviewing pros and cons of all i zeroed-on on EOS 7D because of its speed,excellent image quality (T2i is in no comparison at all), good low light performance, excellent full HD video with multi FPS support and a professional feel in hand. With this camera in hand and right set of glasses you can produce unbelieveable results which even some high end cameras may not be able to achieve.So far i am enjoying this camera and cherish the results produced by it, i feel nice now that i waited for some time to make this purchase[...]

The settings that you change in the Automatic Mode do not stay if the camera goes to sleep or the power is turned off.

New to the DSLR world and this camera has made the transition very easy. Right from the start I was able to capture very high quality photos. If you are a newbe like me I suggest the Magic Lantern Guides: Canon EOS 7D. I purchased and read this book prior to purchasing the camera. So when the camera arrived I was ready to go.

With Graduation, softball season, summer vacation trip coming up, I wanted to suprise my wife with a good camera for her birthday, mission accomplished, she loves it. The manuel that comes with it is a little hard to get through so I got a bought "Canon EOS 7D for Dummies" and it makes learning this camera so much easier. It so far has exceeded all expectations. Love It.

This camera is amazing. It shoots great photographs, and beautiful video. Now, the photography side is pretty straight forward, so I'm going to talk about the video side mostly. I had heard it had controls not great for video, but I totally disagree. You can do Auto mode or Manual mode. If you are experienced with video, manual mode is awesome. It is simple to change all settings quickly to get the look you want. Auto mode works well for people who don't want to mess with the settings, but the exposure will change and the auto white balance as well. Not randomly, but if you want professional shots, you don't want that. But that's the same with any auto on any camera. The biggest issue with it is the rolling shutter, which you may have heard of. This is not a big enough problem to take away from all of the advantages and beauty this camera brings. The other drawback can be audio, but there is an 1/8" jack for mics or wireless sets. I have heard when the CMOS gets hot, the audio can get noise, but have not heard it myself. An advantage over the 5D is the 720 60p and 50p settings. This will get you gorgeous slow motion footage to use. The thing the 5D has over the 7D is obviously the full frame sensor. The lens is great with good range. I only wish I had a constant low aperture such as 2.8. But again, for the price it is great. In the end, I would not want to use any other camera right now. The 7D is amazing and for the price, the best camera out right now. Of course, it depends on what you need it for. Anyway, I highly recommend it.
