I am teaching myself how to use this camera, and so far it's been great. Its not complicated and it is very nice to shoot with. Not too heavy, very nice stabilization, and with my 85mm 1.4 lens, it is excellent in low light! Love it! Highly recommended!

I have this as my main camera now and my Canon 40D as the backup. I am hooked on the 7D for the features are so easy to us and am eager to start using the video with Apple iMovie. Canon cameras have been flawless performers for me, and I have owned and given them as gifts to all my children and now starting on the grandkids!

I upgraded to this Canon 7D from a 300D, and the improvement is incredible! I use the camera mainly for photography of my kids' sports activities. The autofocus is very fast and accurate, much more so than the 300D. As I'm learning about all of the features of the camera, I am able to use the auto functions on the camera and get excellent results. This camera is definitely worth the money.

Comments:

I took the plunge and couldn't be happier. My first dslr and while the learning curve is steep, it's not that steep. Every thing is pretty intuitive. The menus are easily accessible and understandable. I've found the owner's manual to be a wealth of knowledge I've been shooting video and time lapse mostly, though also some stills. I haven't found a hiccup in any of those uses.

The auto focus is both good and bad. In simple situations it works great. However when you want to focus on a spot within the frame, it is slow to use. I find myself using manual focus more than I had anticipated.

Comments:

Upgraded from a Canon EOS Rebel XTi and I am so glad I did. I knew there would be an obvious difference in Camera build quality and image resolution but I had no idea it would just blow my old camera out of the water. I was very happy with my old Rebel but knew I wanted to step up to something with more functions and higher iso for low light conditions, but now I can never go back. Still playing with the functions, because there are so many, I'm just toying around to get different effects. So far the camera has been superb in low light and outdoor photography. Also been getting some action shots of animals (my dog) running around the yard and the autofocus and shutter speed don't miss a beat. Some people complain about the weight of this camera but I like how heavy it is. It feels solid and sturdy and fits in my hands just right.
