I use this amazing piece of machinery as my main workhorse for weddings. The first weekend I went in blind only having it a few days and it was so easy to use, partly because I own a 7D and they are very similar. I have nothing truly negative to say about this camera. I can't believe I almost got just the body and not the kit lens....I am not a believer in "kit" lenses but this is an amazing lens for events. I love the true wide you get with it ...its excellent stopped down to 4.0 for portraits with a very nice bokeh for the focal length. The only problem Ive noticed so far is that the power button is in an odd spot and even though its great because I dont bump it, I also forget to turn it off which can be annoying. Not a big deal and just something I will get used to over time. I also wish it had wireless flash trigger system like the 7d but its not the end of the world at all...just for location portraits would be a nice feature. The video is STUNNING! I love this camera and LITERALLY carry it everywhere I go, It stays on my person when I stop for gum, and sleeps next to me at night...Im not kidding. LOVE THIS ...everything and more all of the reviews have said.

I was very impressed with the Mark 11 by Canon. It is a very easy camera to transition to after owning other Canon cameras.

Besides the lack of an internal flash, this is probably the best camera I've ever used in my life. Astounding low-light performance (especially when taken with fast lenses), breath-taking image quality, and the perfect feel. And it's not bad looking either.

I recently revived an interest in photography as a hobbyist, yet I also use it for work. I own a Sony HD Hi Def Video camera for extended video recording, but I wanted this camera for the RAW photography and High Dynamic Range shooting. The bracketed shots work extremely well with normal, under, and over exposures automatically queued up in the camera.

Comments:

I sought the best possible image quality, heavily weighted toward low-light photography. I do a lot of indoor events, and flash just doesn't cut it. I was not unhappy with my cropped-frame results from a 30D (though the pics got rave reviews) but you always have to seek the edge. When they came out with the MkII, I thought the choice was made, but didn't want to drop the bucks. However, something didn't seem quite right about the "MkII" designation. I thought something else might be on the horizon. Then Canon released the 7D, and I had to start agonizing all over again. After a lot of research and comparisons, everything pointed to the 7D except the native noise characteristics in the higher ISO ranges, which is a pale difference. I knew a couple of people who bought the 7D and were very happy with their results. I didn't have the opportunity to do a hands-on comparison between the 7D and MkII, but delved deeply into the comparisons available on the 'Net. There is only a whisker's difference between the two. However, I blow a shot every once in a while by not zoom-cropping "the right stuff". Having the extra RAW pixel headroom of full-frame vs. 1.6 crop can make the difference between a usable shot and a missed opportunity. I love the full frame. I keep wanting to try my old A1 again, to see if the 35mm film was really as good as I remember. I don't think it is. I don't know if you can get any better than the results the 5D MkII delivers. I have a job on a large industrial development and can see the difference between the 30D and the 5D. The 30D is "Good", the 5D is "Brilliant" I now have a local friend with a 7D, and we can do some detailed comparisons between the 7D & 5D MkII bodies with the same lens. I think I will be happy with my choice.

An excellent camera that takes great high quality pictures. Some aspects, including taking video are less intuitive, on an otherwise easy to use camera. Pictures can be quite grainy at high ISO (no built-in flash) but perfectly sharp at the lower levels.

Canon 5D Make II is excellent. Everything is good except for design such as power switch is not convenient. Excluding these little things, it is an awesome camera.

If you're considering a full frame digital camera, this could be the one for you. Absolutely beautiful color and contrast along with high resolution, make for a fantastic landscape, portrait, event, and macro camera. While not the best choice for sport or wildlife, if any of these are areas you've wanted to explore, this is IMHO one of the best choices you could find for the money.

I use this camera for food photography. The full frame sensor makes narrow depths of field easier to achieve, and everything lives up to my high expectations. I'm now able to take pictures that make good food look delicious. Basically every criticism I've heard about the camera has been addressed in firmware updates. I'm sure I would be happy with many high end cameras, but I'm really glad I chose this one.
