I use it to watch just about everything: birds, scenery, astronomy, insects, wildlife, sporting events, theater performances, and waterskiing babes on the river in front of our house. The image stabilizing is amazing. It speaks very well of the optics and the image stabilizing that I replaced an old pair of the same that had got a fungus on the inside. It would have cost 2/3 or more of the price of a new one to repair, and the shop wouldn't guarantee that the repair would fix it. Don't leave it out in the weather! I let the grandkids use the old "fuzzy image" one.

Great set of binoculars. The "IS" has become indespensible and greatly reduces eye strain from vibration. The clarity is exceptional.

Great Product! The image is great and this is no gimmick, the image stabilization works very well... I was impressed by how much more detail you can discover with out the minimal shakes that one's hands can introduce into the picture.

We use our Canon 10x30 image stabilized binoculars when out boating, watching birds and other animals from the patio, and when we go on day trips. In fact we bought a second pair just to use at our cabin at Lake Tahoe. If you enjoy the out-of-doors, you will love the wonderful, stable images this compact and easy-to-use product provides. You will never want to use non-stabilized binoculars again! Highly recommended.

I use these for boating. When the boat is moving, they help to make the image stable, so I can read names and see the direction of other boats, etc. This is important for safety.

We use these mainly when sailing to observe wildlife, identify other sailboats on the lake, and watch sailing races. I am amazed at how well they stabilize the image. Even with the added maginfication of 10x30, thay are far more stable and clearer than my expensive non-IS 7x50's. I can even recognize the players on a soccer field 1/4 mile from my office! They're great for watching wildlife at closer ranges, too. Plus, their compact size makes them much easier to tote.

Comments:

I use these 10x30's for all around applications. The glass is of good quality, and the image stabilizer function is really what makes these binos an excellent choice. Without the image stablizing, you really cannot take full advantage of top quality glass. The level of detail that you can see improves dramatically. I also use these for astronomical viewing. The image stabilizer really brings to light detail on the moon that I never noticed before in hand held non-stabiized binos. The field of view for scanning the milky way is of sufficient size to allow for that wow factor. I also have the 18x50's, and for closer up detail work, the larger binos are of course superior. However, the one thing I don't like about the larger binos is the weight. The 10x30's on the other hand are about half the weight and thus are more enjoyable to use for casual panning of the Milky Way. The exit pupil or light gathering for both is similar, but is less of a problem for the larger bino due to it's higher magnification. For the 10x30, I would prefer to have just a bit more light gathering capability, but I can easily enough live with the compromise.
