I needed a lens to get up close to wildlife and birds and I was looking for something a little easier on the wallet. The only drawback I have found so far is the lack of image stablization but that does teach you to keep the camera steady.

This is a great and affordable lens! The 75-300 is an awesome lens for outside sports and outdoors shots. Even though it is slow in low light situations, it is STILL a number one lens in my book..

Comments:

This lens is like the 50mm 1.8--you need to have it in your case now and perhaps forever—until you have a lot more money, these are the lenses you're going to use all the time. The kit lens also falls into this category. While using this lens in low light will most likely frustrate you, using it outdoors will impress the socks off of you. This is probably the lens that will capture your kids or grandkids on stage...so don't leave home without it!

Comments:

First lense was never able to take a picture. Error stated it lost communication with camera. After exchange, the replacement lense worked fine. Does not appear to be constructed as well as any of my other Cannon lense. Feel of lense is "plastic" and "cheap". Replacement lense did take wonderful pictures, but I have doubts as to the durability of this lense.
