Comments:

Outstanding lens! Fast autofocus, crisp sharp pics, fills the frame with smaller wildlife! I already knew the lens was slow in low light, so this wasn't an issue for me. Raising the ISO or using my tripod when lighting conditions are less than nominal have given me excellent results. Got some great moon pics and sunset pics with this lens. Definitely recommend this product!

Comments:

I purchased this lens for bird photography and am very happy with it so far. It is lighter than the 100-400mm Canon and have found that all my pictures are at 400mm anyhow. The lack of IS might be a problem for some especially in dusk/dawn situations when you need to slow the shutter down. I have tried with a tripod but found that use of the over-shoulder strap with tripod connection works best by far.

Comments:

Best thing about this lens is the clarity of photos. Extremely sharp, and since I shoot mainly outdoors, in daylight, the fast shutter speed means no problems with the lack of IS. Works very well with a monopod.

It is a great lens, with excellent image quality and details. I absolute recommend it for bird photography. The weakness is the IS missing.

Comments:

I frequently use this lens handheld during daylight hours. It is lightweight and tracks moving objects better than any other L-series lens I own. Birds in flight are easy to capture, images are razor sharp and success rate (sharp vs out-of-focus) is 80% or better every time I go out. I use a 40d and thus do not have the newer cross-type focusing or dual processors and still get great AI Servo response with this lens.Abe's offered best price [...]
