I liked this lens okay, but I am really looking for a lens that allows me to take photos of my toddler indoors and of food. The 50mm f/1.8 has been my go-to for that except that I feel like the crop is too close for me. I had hoped the wide angle of the 35mm would be enough for me to feel like I could capture enough of the action, but it still felt cramped. I returned this lens in the end, and Abes of Maine was great in helping me handle the return smoothly and efficiently.

For the price you are getting a EF mount 35mm f2, I wish it was a bit faster in the focusing, and could be a bit sharper as well.

Great lens for this price. Fast focus, picture quality is not soft. Not that worse than the expensive 35mm/F 1.4L.

Comments:
This lens is an excellent choice for a general purpose prime lens. The design is a bit dated and the focusing motor a little buzzy, but the quality pictures that it creates is what matters most. Highly recommended. I trust this lens much more than the Sigma 30mm 1.4 that I previously owned.

Comments:
If your looking for a great prime lens with fast accurate focusing at a decent price, do yourself a favour and give this a try. I had a Sigma 30mm 1.4 and loved some of the pictures, but the focus was inconsistent and unreliable. This Canon 35mm f2 is much more accurate with good colours and contrast. This lens is also very sharp wide open. Yes the motor is a little buzzy but not a big deal. Build quality is decent, but could be better. I plan on keeping this lens on my camera for quite awhile. Highly recommended.

Useable F2. It is sharp with good colors and contrasts. It is fast and inexpensive. This lens also gives photos a certain feeling that I just love. Build quality is very good for a lens of this price. Its minimum focus distance is very useful. [...]

Comments:
Attached to Canon T1i, it becomes a 55 mm lens. Good for low light shooting. Color is as rich as other Canon prime lens like 50mm 1.8/100mm 2.0. Focus is not quick and kind of noise. But you can take it if you are a casual user.

This lens is lightweight, fast and sharp for the money. it's a great focal length for all uses. My only complaint is that it is easily damaged. With a small impact, the lens will stop working on auto focus. This is my second one, because i use it all the time. But this time I will treat it very carefully. The plastic casing isn't very durable.

I use this lens on a 1D Mark IIn. The 35mm and 1.3X is a great focal length for shooting anything. Sharp wide open. Although not USM, focus is pretty fast and not as noisy as other people have made it out to be. I can live with the "noise" as long as I get consistent results, and I do! The minimum focus distance is about 11" so you can get face to face with your subject. Great lens!
