Comments:

This is my second L series lens from Canon, the first being 70-200mm f4. The clarity and sharpness of this lens is eye-popping. The weight is daunting at first, but very manageable and not of concern on longer shoots. It's a very fast lens, so be prepared for the larger filter size, as well as the larger hood. This has become my everyday lens, with the telephoto and the original 18-55mm for wide angle projects (eventually I will replace that 18-55mm with an L series wide angle). Lenses are to cameras what speakers are to stereos - the place to put the serious money. And this lens (as well as other Canon L series lenses) are well worth the money.

This lens has met all of my HIGH expectations. I would highly recommend it, I did not give it a 5 because it is a heavy lens. It is worth every penny I spent. It's even worth the extra weight

I bought this lens to upgrade my general use 24 - 135 mm to a fast professional quality lens just before a trip to Ireland. Shot over 1200 images with it in a week. Lens is fast and accurate. Solidly built. And Image quality great. So far, I couldn't be happier.

Love the quality of the photos I'm getting straight out of the camera. The clear & crisp photos. This lens is heavy but to me it make it easier to handle. Still playing with the lens but so far so good.

This is the lens I was missing, as I already had the 70-200mm f2.8 and 50mm 1.4 in my bag. Now on to the 5D Mark III.

Initally purchased to take pictures of my kids indoor youth sporting events. Only tried it for volleyball so far in middle school gyms on my 50d and it rocks. Getting great pictures so far and allows me to shoot in small gyms where my 70-200 is too much.

I rely heavily on fixed lens but some events or jobs I like to carry less equipment. I just shot a wedding with the 24-70 and was happy with it for many uses and for it's versatility.
