Canon 180mm f/3.5L USM Macro Lens

Another telephoto macro lens with a maximum magnification of 1x. Life-size close-ups can be taken from a farther distance without disturbing the subject (insects, etc.). The internal floating system minimizes fluctuations in aberrations caused by changes in the focusing distance. Optical…

This 180mm macro lens takes amazing pictures. The photo quality is the best. Subjects in the distance are brought into crystal clear focus in such up close detail you will swear the image was captured from a foot away. I'm a macro enthusiast and this is the first lens I have ever thought, "hmm ... maybe I'm too close." Love it!! Thanks! Mary

Comments:

I have used the Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro for years. I recently purchased the Canon EF 180mm F3.5 macro. I had read conflicting reviews of this lens, so I was a little reluctant. After using it for a couple of weeks, I can say the following. It is a beautiful lens capable of outstanding results. Colors are brilliant and accurate. Focus is crisp. This lens is best suited for a tripod. With its longer focal length and shallow dof, it is more difficult to use hand held compared to the 100mm (which I expected). I have used this lens on a Canon 5DmkII and the results are spectacular. HD videos using this lens is beyond belief. I have used extension tubes and the images are amazing. I am very pleased with this lens and recommend it to anyone wanting to do serious macro work.
